On time every time
In the control room, production staff have access to the
control room timing module. It replaces the traditional pair
of stopwatches that production assistants have used for more
than five decades in TV news.
LineupNX counts down both running tape (left clock) and
time to the next cue in an item (right clock).
It also counts down copy time for scripts, separating
on-camera copy from live voice over video and gives a five
second visual and audio warning to the end of an item (five
seconds is the default warning time. You can set it to
another time if you wish. You can also turn off the audio
Of course the Light/Heavy status of the show is indicated
in seconds and is updated at the start of each recorded
segment (tape or digital video) based on recalculations of
the correct hit-times the through the show.
A window shows the current copy with voice over video shown
in yellow. Another window steps through cues in the item.
Finally, if you have a fixed cue in the show, like a
back-timed roll for closing video, the control room timers
will also give a five second warning to that roll as well.
